Plan of Study | Program Information
The minor in dance requires 26 credits as follows:

Minor in Dance
Required Credits
PFD 110, 111, 210 Ballet (2 credits each)
PFD 125, 126, 225 Modern Dance (2 credits each)
PFD 221, 222 Dance Theory and Composition (2 credits each)
PFD 235 or 236 Dance History and Criticism I and II
Select 7 credits from the following:
PFD 211 Ballet IV (2 credits)
PFD 226 Modern Dance IV (2 credits)
PFD 350 Dance Theatre (1-3 credits)
PFA 108 Beginning Acting (2 credits)
PTD 153 Introduction to Costumes
MUA 110 Elementary Theory & Harmony I
MUA 112 Aural Skills & Musicianship I (1 credit)

In addition to class requirements, dance minors are responsible for fulfilling departmental minor tech hours:

  • 24 hours per semester during the first year
  • 20 hours per semester during second year
  • 18 hours per semester during third year.

Students who minor in dance may audition for both acting and dance opportunities. The programs are under no obligation to cast from that audition.
