The art and art history department of Adelphi University is nestled on 75 beautifully landscaped acres in Garden City, New York. The campus is noted for its vitality, convenience, and safety. Our location in a quiet community only 40 minutes from New York City, greatly expands your educational opportunities. Both studio and art history students benefit from our proximity to Manhattan. Being only a short train ride away makes the city a convenientand unparalleled teaching tool with access not only to art libraries, museums, and galleries, but also to working artists and critics who make the easy trip to campus for lectures and events.
Our Department
Like the University at large, the art department is small enough to cater to the individual but large enough to provide a broad range of options and experiences. As one of our students remarked, “At Adelphi I get the attention of great teachers and the fun of working with my friends in a warm and supportive environment.”

Fine Arts Facilities
The Art Department is situated in two campus locations, Blodgett Hall and the newly constructed Adele and Herbert J. Klapper Center for Fine Arts.
The Adele and Herbert J. Klapper Center for Fine Arts at the south end of campus is a vital center of art activity. The Fine Arts building holds the painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, and ceramic studios as detailed below:
