Undergraduate Programs Degree Requirements

Students are required to complete 120 credits to earn the B.A. degree in art. In addition to meeting the requirements for a major in art, all art students must complete the University's General Education requirements in liberal arts (28 to 30 credits). Students will also have the opportunity to take elective courses in other areas of interest.

All art students concentrating in a studio area are required to participate in a senior thesis art exhibition.

B.F.A. in Studio Art
a studio intensive degree that prepares you for advanced study at the graduate level or for work in the field.

72 credits in studio art and art history
(including the capstone courses: Senior Thesis Project I and II)
28 credits in General Education
20 credits in free electives

B.A. in Studio Art
a general art degree that offers many opportunities for study in other academic areas.

57 credits in art and art history
(including the capstone course: Senior Portfolio in Fine Art)
28 credits in General Education
35 credits in free electives

B.A. in Art Education
a well-rounded studio experience for those seeking New York State certification to teach art.

7 credits in free electives

B.A. with a Concentration in Art History
can be taken as a concentration with a B.A. in studio art or with another major such as history or English.
