Minor & Joint Degree Options

Biology Minor

A minor in biology provides students with a broad background in biology while allowing them significant flexibility to choose courses of interest. The biology minor is especially well suited as a complement to other science-related majors, such as Environmental Studies, Health Education, Anthropology, as well as many of the pre-professional programs.

Joint Degrees

Biology majors at Adelphi have the opportunity to accelerate their path to a rewarding professional career by completing a joint degree in dentistry, medicine, optometry, podiatry, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, or pharmaceutical sciences. The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Undergraduate Education has awarded Adelphi University and Principal Investigator Andrea Ward, PhD, associate provost for research and special projects, a $2.49 million grant for the “Ensuring STEM Student Success Through an Integrative Support Program.”

Exceptional Hands-On Learning

Research is a major part of a biology education at Adelphi. Students have the opportunity to participate in Adelphi’s annual Research and Creative Works Conference to showcase their work to faculty and the rest of our community. Biology students have applied their on-campus research knowledge to real-life work settings through partnerships with institutions throughout the New York metropolitan area, including:
