Alley Pond Environmental Center, Queens — They offer volunteer and internship positions related to education, research, and preservation.

Audubon Society, nationwide —Work with birds through the Audubon Society.  Also check with local branches.

Conservation Job Board — Find jobs all over the country. Narrow your search by category, keywords, or location.

Green Living Project, globally — This organization documents sustainability-related projects globally.  There are many ways to get involved.  Check out the Career page to see what is open, or check out the Projects link and volunteer.

Partnership for Parks, NYC boroughs — There are many parks located in this area, and this organization keeps parks healthy and clean and preserves important ecosystems such as wetlands.  Look under the link About Us for jobs and internships.  Eastern Alliance in Jamaica, Queens, NY is one of the organizations dedicated to wetland preservation.

Rocky Mountain Nature Association, Western U.S. — Employment opportunities are available if you are interested in preserving and educating others about the Rockies.

Society for Conservation Biology, globally —The SCB is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. 

The Student Conservation Association, nationwide — Apply nationally to be a field leader.  Internship opportunities are available as well as volunteer opportunities.

School for Field Studies, international — Check out job and internship postings on this site if you are interested in traveling. The School for Field Studies offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside people who share a sense of commitment to environmental advocacy through education and grass-roots, community-based action.

Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Washington State — This non-profit organization promotes the well-being of wildlife and their habitats through rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife, public education and non-invasive research. Check the site for employment, internship, or volunteer opportunities.

Center for Science Teaching and Learning, Rockville Centre, NY — Teach children science through interactive programs.  Apply to be an educator or a volunteer.

Garden City Bird Sanctuary, Garden City, NY — This 9-acre nature refuge, educate residents on the meaning of environmental stewardship in the community. Volunteer and possible internship opportunities are available.

Ecology and Environment Inc., NYC — This agency connects with offices around the US and some places internationally.  This organization helps to provide solutions to environmental issues. 

U.S. Geological Survey, nationwide — Provides impartial information on the health of our ecosystems and environment. USGS collects, analyzes, and monitors scientific data concerning environmental problems.  This site lists job vacancies, student employment, and other opportunities.

EPA, nationwide - There are opportunities to work with the EPA listed on their website.  They don’t always have a position open, but be sure to keep checking back.  Be sure to register your email address to receive new notifications.  The page will direct you to EPA jobs on USAjobs.gov.

Fish and Wildlife Service, nationwide — Work to conserve and protect America’s wildlife.  Job postings can be found on the top link in addition to further information.

National Park Service, nationwide — Work with a National Park.  Check out volunteer, internship, and job openings.

National Wildlife Federation, nationwide — This is a great opportunity to work with wildlife agencies across the nation. 

NYDEC, NY — Check out the NYDEC site, if you are interested in protecting NY’s natural resources.  The site has links to permanent and seasonal jobs, as well as internships and volunteer information.

Smithsonian Museum, Washington, D.C. — Check out jobs, internships, fellowships, and volunteer opportunities in science research.

Marine Science Work

Alaskan Observers, AK, WA, CA, OR — Work to protect the NW fisheries.  They hire biologist year round to do fish surveys.

American Fisheries Society, nationwide —The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.

Clean Ocean Action, Cape May, NJ & Eastern Long Island — Check out Clean Ocean Action if you are interested in marine science and environmental advocacy. 

Dolphin Institute, Hawaii — The Institute provides education, conservation, and research of dolphins and whales. Become involved or search for jobs.

NY Aquarium, Brooklyn, NY —Work with marine animals, or just volunteer your time for experience.

Sea Camp, FL — Check out this site if you are interested in marine education and instructor positions.  Study the coral reefs and teach marine science to children in the Florida Keys.
