Programs   |    Concentrations in Computer Science

Students pursuing a major in either Computer Science or Computer & Management Information Systems may (if they wish) choose a concentration, which is simply a collection of related CS courses. Since most of these courses would count as CS electives, you may be able to take a concentration with no more, or not many more, courses than you would have needed to take anyway. We currently have two concentrations:

    Concentration in Game Development

This program focuses on the development of computer games and the relevant skills needed to create interactive software in a graphical, multi-player environment. The main advisor for this concentration is Dr. Lee Stemkoski, (516) 877-4495.

    Concentration in Information Security

This program focuses on the development of secure applications and the relevant skills needed to address the root cause of security holes, which is usually "bad software," i.e. defective software with regard to its requirements, testing, design and/or implementation; learn the features and characteristics of secure systems and how to build security into a software system as it is developed. The main advisor for this concentration is Dr. David Chays, (516) 877-4479.
