    Computer and Management Information Systems

To graduate with a degree in Computer and Management Information Systems, students must have a grade-point average of at least 2.0 in those courses required for the major, with at most one grade lower than a C. This applies to those courses that have been taken at Adelphi in fulfillment of degree requirements.

The major in computer and management information systems requires 52-53 credits of coursework.

    Core CMIS courses:

    • ACC 101 "Management of Financial Resources"
    • MTH 110 "Pre-calculus" or MTH 140 "Elementary Functions"
Note: Students considering a Computer Science major should take 140 rather than 110.
    • CSC 156 "Discrete Structures"
    • BUS 162 "Introduction to Business"
    • CSC 170 "Introduction to Computers and Their Applications"
    • CSC 171 "Introduction to Computer Programming"
    • either CSC 172 "Introduction to Algorithms and Data Structures"
or CSC 173 "Introduction to Computer Science IIA" .
Students planning to take further computer programming courses are advised to take CSC 172 rather than 173.
    • MGT 262 "Principles of Management"
    • OPR 271 "Information Technology and Applications"
    • either OPR 272 "Analytical and Statistical Modeling"
or MTH 114 "Statistics for the Sciences"
    • OPR 373 "Management of Production and Operations"
    • either CSC 443 "Database Management Systems"
or OPR 475 "Database Management Systems"
    • BUS/CSC 480 "Senior Seminar in Information Systems"
(If Senior Seminar is not offered in a given year, students are to take an additional technical elective from the list below instead.)

    Technical electives:

Students are to choose four courses from the following list, including at least two CSC courses:
