Minor

The minor in dance requires 26 credits as follows:

• PTD 110, 160, 210 Ballet (2 credits each)
• PTD 125, 175, 225 Modern Dance (2 credits each)
• PTD 221, 271 Dance Theory and Composition (2 credits each)
• PTD 235 Dance History (3 credits)

Select 7 credits from the following:

• PTD 260 Advanced Ballet (2 credits)
• PTD 275 Advanced Modern Dance (2 credits)
• PTD 350 Dance Adelphi (3 credits)
• PFA 108 Beginning Acting (2 credits)
• PFA 260 Theatre History I (3 credits)
• PTD 333 Costume Design I (3 credits)
• MUA 110 Elementary Theory and Harmony I (3 credits)
• MUA 112 Ear Training, Dictation, and Sight Singing I (1 credit)

In addition to class requirements, dance minors are responsible for fulfilling departmental minor tech hours:

• 24 hours per semester during the first year
• 20 hours per semester during second year
• 18 hours per semester during third year.

Students who minor in dance may audition for both acting and dance opportunities. The programs are under no obligation to cast from that audition.
