It is not necessary to be a Music Major to join the Adelphi Symphony Orchestra in this, the most exciting of years that sees the opening of our new Performing Arts Center. The PAC’s superb new Concert Hall — already we believe the acoustics to be excellent — is to be the Orchestra’s home!!

Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5, “Emperor”
Gorecki Symphony No.3, “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs”
Brahms Piano Concerto No.2 in B flat
Prokof'ev Violin Concerto No. 1 in D
Wagner Die Walküre, Act I (in concert form)
Open Auditions are called for any undergraduate or graduate students or faculty, who may wish to join the Symphony Orchestra.
Audition Dates:
Friday, August 29, 2008 - 2:00p.m.-5:00 p.m.
or
Wednesday, September 3, 2008 - 5:30p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Please bring TWO prepared pieces (one should be a major Sonata or Concerto movement).
Usually, Orchestra membership carries with it the obligation to take private lessons on your instrument. Small scholarships are available to assist with this cost.
First Rehearsal of the Orchestra takes place in the PAC Recital Hall7:30p.m. -10:00 p.m.
