POL 342: American Political Thought 3 credits This course examines the major political theories and writings of American leaders and intellectuals from roughly the colonial period to the present, including an exploration of topics such as republicanism, democracy, civil disobedience, equality, and progressivism. The readings will include the works of thinkers and activists such as Jefferson, Madison, Thoreau, Cady Stanton, Dewey and DuBois.
