Dear Susan, Sharyn, and Glenn,
My name is Danielle Monestere, and I was enrolled in your program while I was working on my degree in Audiology from 19961999. I hope you remember me! Anyway, I wanted to bring all of you up to date on what has transpired since I graduated from Adelphi.
After receiving my M.S. in Audiology, I had to take and pass national and state boards in order to obtain my license to practice, which I did on my first shot! I completed my fellowship and have been working in my family practice full time since 2001. No sooner did I finish the requirements for full licensure, then the Audiology governing body decided to make Audiology a doctoral profession which meant that I had to complete an additional 63 credits (21 classes) over my Masters degree! I am thrilled (and yet relieved) to say that I completed my doctoral degree in Audiology as of this past June (2005) in just over 2 years. Talk about stress; working full time AND working on my doctoral degree full time was no easy task. And I graduated with a 3.94 average! I got A's in 20 classes and one B (grrrr. ha ha). Now I can proudly call myself Dr. Monestere, and I have all of you to thank.
The purpose of this letter is to thank each and every one of you for believing in what you do, and especially for believing in me. I was ready to give up on Audiology completely that summer before I started working with Glenn and Sharyn. My spirit had really been broken, and with the help of Susan and Dr. Alan Sadovnik, I was given a second chance by being enrolled in your program. To this day I am so very grateful for and have never forgotten what you did for me. You showed me that I could perform up to my potential and helped me to restore the self-confidence I have today.
I hope everything is going well for all of you. I know that your program has had, and will continue to have, many wonderful success stories like mine. Thank you again for all of the academic and personal support I received during a very rough and trying time of my life.
Sincerely,
Danielle Monestere
Doctor of Audiology
