All short term programs, whether they are Adelphi faculty-led programs
or programs independent of Adelphi carry a $100 Adelphi Study Abroad
Fee.
For faculty led programs during intersession, spring break, and some summer courses, the study abroad course will be counted as part of the spring course load. Therefore, undergraduate students who register for 17 credits or less (including the study abroad course), will not be charged additional tuition for the course. However, if undergraduate students go over the 17 credits, they will have to pay the per credit rate for additional credits. For most summer programs, students will pay both the program fee and tuition associated with the course. Graduate students pay the tuition for the course as well as the program fee for programs in all terms.

This course emphasizes the problems we encounter with water pollution, soil pollution, chemical and biological toxicity. Inquiry style experiments are designed to promote analysis of data, and problem solving techniques to find possible answers to difficult environmental questions—a special emphasis will be placed on how Norway deals with and approaches these environmental concerns.
The course is being offered in collaboration with the American College
of Norway in Moss, Norway. The cost of the
program is approximately $2,200, this includes one three credit class,
housing, two field trips, and the $100 Adelphi study abroad fee. It
does not include airfare or meals (housing is in apartments with
kitchenettes for cooking, there are also several restaurants within
walking distance of the school). Participants will attend class with
both US and Norwegian students at the American College of Norway.
Payment timeline—a $250 deposit upon application, $1050 by March
30, 2012 and the remaining $900 by April 27, 2012.
Did you ever want to learn Spanish while speaking and listening to native speakers? Enjoy relaxed conversation in tapas bars and cafes? Experience a live Flamenco performance and take a Flamenco workshop...all while exploring the city of Seville, Spain? This is your opportunity to travel to Spain and learn Spanish. The program is open to beginning, intermediate and advanced speakers and is in cooperation with The Center for Cross-Cultural Study. Students will be placed in the appropriate Spanish level after a placement exam and will receive three Adelphi credits upon successful completion of the program. Adelphi Professor Rakhel Villamil-Acera will accompany and spend the first week of the program in Seville with the students. The program includes the academic fee, an orientation, study tours (Cordoba, La Rabida and the beach), room and board (double room in a Seville home, three meals per day and laundry) and international health insurance. The cost does not include international airfare and other personal expenses.
The program fee is $3,100. Payment timeline—a $250 deposit upon application, $1,500 by March 30, 2012 and the remaining $1,350 by April

The Adelphi University School of Social Work is pleased to announce Adelphi in the Baltic, a new study abroad opportunity for social work students and alumni. Adelphi in the Baltic is designed to meet the needs of both prospective and active social work practitioners, who need the skills and capacities to practice in a diverse, global context. Participants will be exposed to an enriching series of social work lectures, community agency visits and travel over 14 days in the Baltic region and learn firsthand about their successful models of social welfare. The program includes 5 days in Stockholm, Sweden, an overnight ferry trip to historic Turku, Finland, followed by 4 days in Helsinki, 3 days in Talinn, Estonia, and a stunning cruise across the Baltic Sea to Sweden for our return flight to New York. Dates for the 2012 course are June 25–July 8. For those who wish, it is possible to combine the inaugural 2012 Adelphi in the Baltic program with attendance at the International Federation of Social Work Conference in Stockholm, Sweden July 9-12, 2012.
Undergraduate and graduate social work students are invited to participate in the program as a 3-credit Summer term elective within the School of Social Work. These students will begin the program with 6 hours of U.S. based lectures and readings and follow up the trip with related assignments. For alumni participants who wish to participate in the experience for continuing education purposes, travel will take place following an abbreviated 3 hour pre-departure lecture and orientation. Students who register for elective credit will pay 3 credit course tuition cost in addition to the travel costs; alumni will pay a $635 fee in addition to the travel costs.

Set in Lucca, Italy, this course explores the history and development of music, art, theater and architecture in the Tuscan region. Students will study how the region's political and social development have shaped and influenced the cultural and artistic traditions of Lucca and Tuscany. Course lectures will be complemented by excursions to cultural sites, musical and theatrical performances, as well as a one day excursion to Florence.
The program fee is $1,500 plus airfare (estimated at $1,400), and
Adelphi tuition for the course. The program fee includes all lodging
(four to a room), in-country travel, tours and breakfast. The
application deadline is March 15, 2012; a $500 deposit is due when the
application is submitted. Additional costs include $35 international
health insurance, a $100 Adelphi Study Abroad Fee, and an estimated
$600 to cover incidentals and meals not included in the program fee.

Experience one of the world’s largest economies first-hand through this faculty-led program to China that will visit Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. Students will visit local Chinese businesses, tour Chinese universities and interact with Chinese students, as well as visit amazing sites such as the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, and the Terracotta Warriors. The program includes air transportation, transfers, admission to cultural excursions, lodging and most meals. The estimated cost is $3,000.
Adelphi University will offer a program in cooperation with Jinan [Chi-Nan] University in Guangzhou, China. During the winter intersession, 12 students will have the opportunity to study Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and moxibustion at Jinan University. This 3 credit elective will be taught in English so no Chinese language command is required.
The estimated cost of the program is $2650 and includes a roundtrip flight, on-campus double room, meals, transportation between airport and campus and local excursions. Travel to Costa Rica and explore the interconnections between contemporary peace building, human rights and sustainable development through this course offered in partnership with the United Nations’ University for Peace. It will draw on the unique experience of Costa Rica, as one of the oldest democracies in Latin America, to illustrate the complexities of diplomacy and development in today’s changing world. The program includes air transportation, transfers, admission to cultural excursions, lodging and most meals. The estimated cost is $2,450.
Explore the London theater scene through this three-credit course during the 2012 winter intersession. Participants will depart for London on January 9 and return to the U.S. on January 19. In between students will see eight theater productions, visit Stratford-on-Avon and the Royal Shakespeare Theater, as well as tour the Globe Theatre, the Victoria and Albert Theatre Museum and the section of London known as Theatreland...all in addition to exploring the city of London during free time. The program includes: air transportation, lodging in a four-star hotel, eight theatre tickets, cultural excursions, and a ‘pub’ dinner. Meals are not included. The estimated cost is $3200.
Adelphi's Ruth S. Ammon School of Education is offering students an opportunity to travel to Kerala, India, during the January 2012 Intersession, and take a course focused on Special Education. Assumption College, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, is partnering with Adelphi for this study abroad opportunity. Students will learn about and experience special education in India and how it compares to the services offered in the United States. Students will participate in site visits and work with children with disabilities as well as with families in school settings. There will be opportunities for students to spend time with Indian families in Kerala to learn about their traditions and daily life. Excursions will include a day spent on a house boat, visiting local wildlife (possibly elephant rides), and tours of the regions museums and palaces. The program includes: air transportation, transfers, admission to cultural excursions, lodging and most meals. The estimated cost is $2,900.
This program, open to School of Nursing students only, is an
opportunity to be of service to "at-risk" children and families in
Peru. Participants will have multiple opportunities to immerse in the
ancient and colorful culture of Peru including exploration of Machu
Picchu, a 15th century Inca site. The estimated program fee is $2,600
and includes most travel costs related to the trip. In addition,
students will also register for the one credit course associated with
the program.
