School District Leader Advanced Certificate Program (18 credits)

The School District Leader (SDL) Advanced Certification program leads to New York State certification and licensure for school district leader positions such as district superintendent, assistant superintendent, director of pupil personnel services, district technology director and additional district supervisory positions. This SDL program is designed to bring a multidisciplinary focus and broad perspective to district administrative functions, such as: supervision, leadership development, district governance, financial management of district resources (i.e. human, facilities and material), curriculum innovation and technological initiatives. Through a combination of theory and practice with field-based study, candidates will widen their perspective of district administration in regard to human, technological, informational and budgetary resources.

The 18-credit Advanced Certificate in School District Administration fulfills the programmatic requirements for the New York State School License (SDL). Upon passage of the New York State SDL exam, the SDL Certificate will be conferred by Adelphi University’s Ruth S. Ammon School of Education.

Note: Documentation of a minimum of three years full-time work in classroom teaching, and/or professional pupil personnel service experience, PreK-12, and a Master's degree are required for admission into the program.
