Adelphi in Florence Students: May 2007
The Renaissance defined modern culture—and the city of Florence was its heart. In May 2008, the University will offer Adelphi in Florence: Experiencing the Renaissance, an interdisciplinary, three-credit course that combines classes, lectures, museum visits, and excursions to understand how the Renaissance transformed the way we perceive the world.

This intensive course will run for nearly four weeks starting May 22nd and ending June 12th. Representing the collaborative effort of Thomas McAnulty, professor of art and art history, Jennifer Maloney, assistant professor of Art and Art History, and Adam McKeown, assistant professor of English, the program focuses on the interrelationship of art, literature, culture, and history. The course will cover three topics:
  • literature and philosophy
  • art history
  • sculptural production and experience.
Students will visit world-renowned museums and galleries, travel in Tuscany and experience the history and beauty of Florence. Both students and faculty will live in the Hotel Azzi, a restored 14th-century monastery. The program also offers optional weekend trips to Venice and Rome.
