Q: Am I eligible for the program?
A: High school seniors with strong academic records are eligible to participate in the Global Bridge Program with the Levermore Global Scholars (LGS). More specific requirements can be viewed here.

Q: How much does it cost to attend the Global Bridge Program?
A: The fee for the Global Bridge Program is only $625 for Spring 2009.  The fee covers the cost of a 3-credit seminar and participation in the LGS-sponsored cultural and academic events. The Global Bridge Program fee is more than 3 times lower than a normal Adelphi tuition fee of  $2250 for 3 credits (1 credit = $750 for Spring 09)

Q: Will I be eligible for financial aid?
A: Unfortunately not. Students who have not earned their high school diploma or its equivalent are not eligible to receive federal or state grants, or work-study at a post-secondary institution.

Q: Where is the program located?
A: You will attend the LGS freshmen seminar on Adelphi campus located in Garden City. A number of LGS academic, social and cultural events that you could join will be organized on and off campus. Transportation is normally provided from Garden City to the LGS sponsored events off-campus.

Q: When are the LGS seminars offered?
A: Typically, the students can choose between the LGS seminars on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays. Seminars are usually offered in the afternoons. The schedule of classes is available here.

Q: How many LGS seminars can I take each semester?
A: Because the work is demanding we allow students to select one LGS freshman seminar (3 credits) per semester. Students choose among the two LGS freshman seminars that are offered each Fall and Spring semester.

Q: Will I attend the LGS seminar with other LGS Scholars or just with the Global Bridge Scholars?
A: You will attend your LGS seminar together with around 20 LGS Freshmen Scholars and 2-3 other high school participants.

Q: Who teaches  the LGS courses offered in the Global Bridge Program?
A: Adelphi faculty members teach the LGS freshmen seminars.

Q: Will I earn college credit for the LGS freshman seminar?
A: Yes. In the Global Bridge Program you will earn 3 college (Adelphi/LGS) credits per semester.

Q: Where can I transfer the Adelphi/LGS credits?
A: Other colleges and universities will normally transfer Adelphi/LGS credits. If you decide to apply to Adelphi the credits from the Global Bridge Program will apply to and meet Adelphi freshman requirements.

Q: If I apply to Adelphi for a full degree program and decide to join LGS do I need to re-apply to the program?
A: No. If you are accepted to Adelphi you are automatically admitted to LGS.

Q: If I am accepted to Adelphi and LGS do I need to retake the seminars I took in the Global Bridge Program?
A: No. You will be exempt from taking the LGS freshman seminar provided that you have received a grade of  “C+” or higher in the Global Bridge Program.

Q: Will my high school award dual credits for my participation in the Global Bridge Program?
A: The student’s high school has discretion as to whether the credits earned from the Global Bridge Program may be used to meet high school graduation requirements. After being admitting to the Global Bridge Program the students are advised to inquire with their schools whether the Adelphi/LGS seminar and its credits may apply to any of the student’s high school graduation requirements.

Q: How can I apply to the Global Bridge Program?
A: Complete the application form (DOC 68KB), attach the required documents and mail the package to:

Global Bridge Program
Adelphi University
LGS, Science Building 122
1 South Avenue,
Garden City, NY 11530

Q: Do I need to reapply to the program each semester?
A: Students who receive a grade of “B” and higher in the LGS freshman seminar will be automatically admitted to the Global Bridge Program for the following semester.

Q: How does the Program compare to the A.P. (Advanced Placement) Program?
A: The difference between the Global Bridge Program and the A.P. Program is that the award of credits in the Global Bridge Program does not depend on a score achieved on a single examination, as is the case in the A.P. Program. Adelphi/LGS credits are awarded based on the grade you earn for the work you accomplish during the LGS seminar. In addition, Global Bridge Program is not only about taking a credited seminar but also about participating with other LGS Scholars in various extracurricular activities.

Q: How do I transfer Adelphi University credits to other schools?
A: You have to fill out a transcript request form: download the form. The cost for our registrar to send a transcript to your college or university is $10.00.

Q: What other advantages does the program offer me?
A: Students who are admitted to the Global Bridge Program have an opportunity to participate in special on and off-campus events sponsored or organized by the Levemore Global Scholars Program. More information about these events is available here. In addition, the students receive privileges at Adelphi University's Swirbul Library and other campus facilities.

Q: Who I can contact if I have questions regarding Global Bridge Program?
