Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies

Adelphi has long been recognized as a pioneer in the study of psychology. In 1972, the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies became the nation's first university-based professional school of psychology. Today Derner is internationally recognized for its dedication to scholarship and its commitment to training professionals to meet the needs of a society in transition.

Through a combination of academic studies and clinical practice, students gain an understanding of human behavior and learn skills that enable them to pursue a wide range of careers. Derner offers undergraduate, master's, doctoral, postgraduate, and respecialization programs. Supported by a dedicated faculty, these programs integrate research, theory, and practice.
