Course Proposals




Credit Status:

All University College courses are offered on a non-credit basis. These courses cannot be applied to an undergraduate or graduate degree program unless they have been pre-qualified for Prior Learning credit.  To find out more information on Prior Learning credits, contact a University College advisor at 516-877-3412 or at ucinfo@adelphi.edu.


How to Register:

*Online:
You may register for non-credit courses or programs by using our online registration option anytime (credit card only).  Visit our web site at: http://uc.adelphi.edu and register on the individual course page.

In-Person:
Students may register in-person at University College office on the Garden City Campus.  The office is located in Room 201 of Hagedorn Hall of Enterprise.

You cannot register for a course at the classroom or with the instructor.

Please note: Your cancelled credit card statement will serve as proof of payment. You will be e-mailed a confirmation notice that will act as your receipt.  University College does not accept check, cash or money order for payment.

Individual Class Cancellations & Make-Up Classes:

Occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to an unforeseen emergency or instructor illness.  In this event, the instructor will work with the students to schedule an appropriate make up class that fall within a reasonable time during or immediately after the listed course schedule.


Minimum Number of Registrants and Course Cancellations:

All classes require a minimum number of registrants in order for them to run. Classes may be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to the first class meeting due to low enrollment. Although we will make every effort to notify students of cancellations, it is advisable to check our website (http://uc.adelphi.edu) or e-mail (ucinfo@adelphi.edu) to confirm the course 24 hours before the course start date. A full refund will be given for course cancellations.

Note: University College reserves the right to cancel classes, change rooms, locations, alter times, dates, instructors and/or tuition without prior notification, if necessary. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and will make every attempt to accommodate students in the event of a change.


Emergency Cancellations:

In the event of severe weather or other emergency situation, please follow information regarding the credit courses.  If Adelphi closes and courses are cancelled, all University College non-credit courses are considered cancelled as well.  Please check the Adelphi website, http://www.adelphi.edu, or call the University Alert hotline at 516-877-6870. Course Payment, Fees, Discounts and Refunds:

Registration Fee: $25 per registrant

Full payment for all non-credit courses and programs are due at the time of registration. Payment may be made by credit card only (MasterCard and Visa only). Participants will be charged a $25 fee for returned checks. 

Book & Materials Fees: Not included with course fees unless otherwise noted. Visit our website (http://uc.adelphi.edu) for required textbook information.


Discounts for Adelphi students, faculty, staff and alumni:

All currently enrolled Adelphi students, current faculty and staff and alumni are eligible for a 25% discount on all University College non-credit courses and programs.  Discounts are available on a space available basis.  Discounts do not apply to additional fees for materials, textbooks, special equipment or for classes that are co-sponsored with another organization.  Students wishing to take the discount may be asked to  produce proof of student, staff, faculty or alumni status.  Discounts must be taken at the time of registration. Discounts will not be given retroactively.


Refunds:

If University College cancels a course: 100% refund (including registration fee).  No need to contact University College, this refund will be processed automatically.

If the student withdraws:

  • 100% of course fee, less the registration fee, prior to the first class meeting
  • 80% of course fee, less the registration fee, after the first class meeting
  • No refunds thereafter, or on courses with three sessions or less once the course has begun
  • Credit card refunds are credited back to the card used to register for the course
  • You must request a refund in writing via e-mail to buffone@adelphi.edu.

In most cases, credit card refunds will be processed two to three weeks after the course has been canceled or the withdrawal is requested.

Office Hours and School Holidays:

The University College office is closed and no classes are held on these days each year:

  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving and Day After Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day


Student and Faculty Behavior:

For all non-credit courses, and in all class locations, including online and blended courses, all University College students will follow the Adelphi Student Code of Conduct.  All non-credit students are also expected to follow the Adelphi Code of Academic Honesty


Classroom Locations and Required Textbook Information:

Garden City Campus Parking:

Your e-mail receipt issued after you have successfully registered for classes includes a temporary Adelphi parking pass that will allow to park on the Garden City campus.  Please print this receipt and display this page on the front dash of your car when parking at the Garden City campus.  This parking pass is valid only during the days your course meets and will not be honored at other times.
