AHS 330: S/T: Jane Austen

This course will attempt to scruntinize fove of Austen's major novels (Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejuice, Mansfield Park, and Persuasion), to determine what qualities exist in her writings that have survived two centuries and continue to fascinate readers well into the new millennium. We will also examine the political, social, and historical conditions under which she wrote and determine their significance in representing what life was like in Georgian England during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
