Bachelor of Arts in Social Science

The Bachelor of Arts in Social Science focuses on guiding students to develop their cognitive skills, including critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making.

The majority of University College social science majors continue their studies in graduate programs in one of the following areas: psychology, school psychology, counseling, elementary or secondary education, public administration, law, and social work.


Degree Overview

Within the Social Science major, students choose one of two specialization areas:

Students are required to complete a total of 120 credits, 90 of which must be in the liberal arts.  In addition, students can complete an 18-24 credit minor in Psychology.

This degree program is an excellent preparation for graduate school programs in psychology, school psychology, counseling, elementary or secondary education, public administration, law, and social work.
