The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Social Science – Specialization in Psychology: Human Services Professions track degree prepares students for advanced degrees in the human services professions. Students who achieve this degree go onto careers in psychology, mental health counseling, and social work. The degree includes coursework that gives the student an excellent academic preparation for application to graduate programs in psychology, social work and the social sciences.

Degree Overview
This degree is designed for students seeking careers in human services professions which require advanced degrees for entry into their respective fields. Students must first complete the University College core and general education requirements (or have them waived due to transfer credits and degrees) before moving on to coursework in psychology and the social sciences. The courses included in this degree program provide a broad preparation for application to advanced degree programs in psychology, social work and the social sciences.

Who Should Apply
Students who are interested in careers in human services professions of psychology, counseling, and social work should apply. Many of the human services professions require advanced degrees for entry into the career field. For example, students who wish to become social workers must complete a Master’s of Social Work degree as part of their entry into the social work profession. This degree track includes courses chosen to best help a student gain acceptance into graduate school degree programs in their chosen field.
