Adelphi University and University College welcome all active, reserve, and veteran members of the military with programs and services designed to meet their unique needs. Adelphi was transformed in the 1940s when the University welcomed WWII veterans to campus and today our university president is a veteran and an advocate for the new G.I. Bill, a past board chairman is a veteran, and we have a strong alumni veteran’s network. Adelphi's University College is the home of active, reserve, and veteran military who wish to study at Adelphi and has staff on campus to assist their educational needs. This includes:
For currently enlisted military personnel:
- Adelphi is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium colleges and universities are dedicated to helping servicemembers and their families get college degrees.
- Adelphi is a member of the Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP), allowing soon-to-enlist or currently enlisted military personnel to enroll in and complete college courses while they continue their service commitments.
- An online, streamlined admissions process that does not require an SAT score for students to apply or be admitted.
- Distance Education courses and degree programs that allow students to study anywhere they have access to a computer.
- Personalized academic advising that assigns a single adviser to you from pre-enrollment to graduation.
For military veterans:
- Information on the G.I. Bill benefits including the new Post 9/11 G.I. Bill.
- Participation in the V.A.’s Yellow Ribbon program that allows students to extend their G.I. Bill tuition benefit to private colleges like Adelphi.
- College credit for many military training programs through the University College Prior Learning program.
- Evening, weekend, accelerated, online and campus sites in Garden City, Hauppauge and Manhattan to help returning veterans work while they complete their degree.
- A wide variety of degree programs that lead to careers and graduate school programs.
- A fully online degree program in Emergency Services Administration that is especially well-suited to students with military experience.
