Computer Software Courses |
All University College computer courses are taught evenings and weekends in Adelphi’s computer labs with the most up-to-date versions of software and hardware available. Class sizes are small, each student will sit at their own computer station, and courses are taught by computer professionals currently working in the technology field. Learn the computer skills you need for work or school from an information technology professional in classes designed for busy, working adults.

Introduction to Linux
Linux is a computer operating system family and is one of the most prominent examples of free software and of open source development; its underlying source code is available for anyone to use, modify, and redistribute freely. This is an introductory course in which you will learn the basics of the Linux operating system. The goal of this course is for individuals to learn to successfully use Linux to perform daily tasks. These tasks include but are not limited to: file creation and manipulation, setting up a Linux box, navigation of the filesystem, shell scripts and more.

Microsoft Office Excel for Beginners and Intermediates
This course is for those who have little to no experience using Microsoft Office Excel. Excel is office productivity software that helps manage data in electronic spreadsheets and is a fundamental work skill in today’s modern office. This course will help you manage data at your job or for your business, and looks great on a resume. Topic areas for this course include: what is Excel and what is it used for, cell an cell address structure, menu, standard and formatting bars, moving around in Excel, setting up a spreadsheet, data entry and editing, data formatting, data functions and formulas, saving, printing and retrieving spreadsheets, and making simple charts. 8 hours of instruction

Microsoft Office PowerPoint for Beginners and Intermediates
This course is for those who have little to no experience using Microsoft Office PowerPoint. PowerPoint is office productivity software that helps you create and display presentations for use in business and school. PowerPoint is an essential office communications tool and is used frequently in presentations to clients, on sales calls, for staff training and for school projects. Topic areas for this course include: what is PowerPoint and what is it used for, viewing and presenting an existing presentation, editing a presentation, creating a presentation, working with slides and templates, formatting slide backgrounds, text, fonts and colors, inserting tables, charts and graphics, slide show options, using multimedia, and printing and display options. 8 hours of instruction.
