School Science Advancement Program (SSA/NYSSTEP)

The mission of the School Science Advancement Program (SSA) for Science Technology Entry program (STEP) at Adelphi University is to prepare and inspire all students from underrepresented backgrounds to enter into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers through collaboration with Long island school districts, organizing programs for students in grade 7-12 and offering instructional and other experimental learning opportunities.

NYSSTEP Results in New York State

  • SSA/NYSSTEP students perform better than their peers in Regents mathematics and science courses.
  • Grade 12 SSA/NYSSTEP students graduate at a higher rate with Regents diplomas than their peers.
  • More SSA/NYSSTEP graduates pursue postsecondary education than their peers.
