Academic Opportunities

There are plenty of specialized courses and camps for various age ranges taking place on Adelphi’s campus and centers over the summer, administered by organizations that partner with Adelphi University.

NYS Regents Prep

Regents Review prep courses are taught by New York State licensed teachers to help students prepare for New York State Regents Examinations with offerings that include Earth Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Algebra, Geometry, Global History and Geography, U.S. History, English Language Arts and Spanish. Courses are offered at Adelphi’s Garden City Campus and Hauppauge Center.

SAT and ACT Prep

TestTakers prep courses at Adelphi’s Garden City campus help students to boost their SAT and ACT scores. Fall classes begin in late August, winter classes begin in early January, spring classes begin in late February, and summer classes begin in late June.

iD Tech Camps

At these Adelphi-based day camps, students ages 7-17 build valuable STEM skills in an inspiring, collegiate setting. Students experience personalized learning with a maximum of eight students per instructor and use the best brand name products from industry leaders like Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, Google and Microsoft. Courses include Coding and Development, Game Programming, Cryptography and Cyber Security, Game Design and Development and 3D Modeling.

Destination Science offers an exciting environment where kids ages 5–11 feel comfortable making connections with others! Programs include Robotic Mystery Camp

Debate Camp

This American Debate League camp is designed to teach students the fundamentals of public speaking and argumentation skills that will enable them to develop confidence, self-esteem, critical thinking skills, creativity and leadership. Students will have a chance to improve their communication skills in a safe and secure environment. They will walk away from this camp knowing how to structure arguments, prepare debate cases, research evidence, write rebuttal briefs, deliver speeches and refute opponents.

Long Island Chess Camp

Held annually during the last week of June, this weeklong chess camp teaches participants how to play and improve their chess skills by a distinguished faculty of chess instructors and prominent chess professionals. Open to anyone entering 1st grade through 12th grade in September, at any level of ability.

Camp For Children With Visual Impairments

Camp Abilities Long Island is a developmental sports camp for children who are visually impaired, blind, or deafblind. Activities offered include Beep Baseball, Tandem Biking, Goalball, Swimming and more. Please contact the director for more information and to register.

Business Career Prep

Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) is a free learning experience developed by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants to expose promising underrepresented high school juniors to accounting and business careers. The program features successful role models and an introduction to the college campus. Most important, the program is designed to teach students about the breadth and depth of accounting as a career choice.
